On September 17, 2025, together with my partner Contica, we hosted the live webinar From BizTalk to Azure: Cloud Isn’t BizTalk – So Stop Thinking Like It. This session was the second part of an ongoing series. Once again, we had a great time delivering it. Our goal is simple: help attendees learn and enjoy the session. After all, if we don’t enjoy delivering it, what’s the point?
During the webinar, we focused on a key message: Azure and Azure Integration Services are not BizTalk Server. They require a different mindset because they are fundamentally different platforms. Replicating legacy BizTalk patterns in the cloud can introduce unnecessary complexity and risk. This is why blindly “lifting and shifting” rarely makes sense. Yes, some approaches are possible—but should you really use them?
The session shows how to choose Azure‑native architectures, avoid over‑engineering, and transform BizTalk experience into smarter, cloud‑ready integration designs.

If you are still relying on BizTalk Server but wondering how to make the leap to Azure Integration Services without losing sleep? Then this is for you. If you want to determine if it makes sense to stay with BizTalk Server, then this session is also for you. You’re not alone in this situation!
📝 One-Minute Brief
This webinar recording will address:
- How to choose an integration architecture that fits your scenario, not someone else’s success story
- Guidance on designing for Azure, not just recreating BizTalk patterns/li>
- A simple checklist to sanity-check your architecture decisions before you build
This is our second of four webinars we have planned (for now). The goal is to take you on a trip from BizTalk Server to Azure Integration Services migration.
If you missed the webinar or just want to recap what you saw, the recording is now online on YouTube here:
