Eight and a Half Years in the Microsoft MVP Program

It feels like it was only yesterday that I announced my first MVP award. Back then, I was recognized as a BizTalk Server MVP, and today I proudly look back on 8.5 years in this incredible program.

I joined the Microsoft MVP community on January 1st, 2011, becoming part of an amazing group of passionate and highly skilled professionals. Since then, Microsoft has renewed my MVP award every single year across different categories.

My MVP Journey Through the Years

Over the years, my MVP journey evolved alongside Microsoft technologies:

  • 2011 – First awarded as BizTalk Server MVP.
  • 2012 – Renewed as BizTalk Server MVP.
  • 2013–2015 – Awarded as Microsoft Integration MVP.
  • 2017 – Integration became part of Azure, and I was awarded Azure MVP.
  • Mid‑2017 – Also awarded Azure & Visio MVP.

And today, with the same pride, honor, and enthusiasm as the first time, I’m thrilled to share that I have been renewed once again as a Microsoft Azure MVP.

This marks my 8th consecutive year in the Microsoft MVP Program—an incredible journey that started in 2011 and continues to give me opportunities to travel, speak at events, share knowledge, and connect with some of the most talented people in our industry.

📝 One-Minute Brief

After more than eight years in the Microsoft MVP Program, I’m honored to be renewed once again as a Microsoft Azure MVP. This journey began in 2011 as a BizTalk Server MVP and evolved alongside Microsoft Integration and Azure technologies. I’m deeply grateful to my family, Microsoft teams, community, and sponsors for their continued support.

A Heartfelt Thank You

This journey wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of many people.

Family First

First and foremost, I want to thank my wifeFernanda; my daughters, Leonor and Laura; and my newborn baby, José. Thank you for all the “confusion and madness” you bring into my life—and for all the love and support over these years. You are my inspiration.

Microsoft & MVP Leadership

A special thank you to my MVP Lead, Cristina Herrero, and to the amazing Microsoft Integration and Azure teams, including:

Paul Larson, Mandi Ohlinger, Dan Rosanova, Jon Fancey, Kevin Lam, Kent Weare,
and the Microsoft Portugal team: Paulo Mena, Luís Calado, Ivo Ramos, Ricardo Jesus, Pedro Santos, and many others.

DevScope & Colleagues

To DevScope and all my coworkers: thank you for the constant support. We are incredibly lucky to have such an amazing team, including four MVPs, one Microsoft Regional Director, and a former MVP. What a team!

The MVP & Integration Community

To my fellow Microsoft Azure (Integration) MVPs, thank you for the collaboration, support, and friendship:

Nino Crudele, Steef‑Jan Wiggers, Saravana Kumar, Mikael Håkansson, Johan Hedberg, Tomasso Groenendijk, Salvatore Pellitteri, Richard Seroter, Stephen W. Thomas, Mick Badran, Michael Stephenson, Bill Chesnut, Thomas Canter, Mattias Lögdberg, Sam Vanhoutte, Glenn Colpaert, Howard S. Edidin, Martin Abbott, Leonid Ganeline, Dan Toomey, Wagner Silveira, and Eldert Grootenboer.

Community & Sponsors

Finally, thank you to all my blog readers, friends, and the BizTalk and Azure Integration community. You inspire me every day.

And a special thanks to my blog sponsor, BizTalk360, and their entire team for the continued partnership and support.

Looking Ahead

It’s a huge honor to be part of this program. I’m excited, motivated, and ready for another great year of learning, sharing, and contributing to the community.

Hope you find this helpful! If you liked the content or found it useful and would like to support me in writing more, consider buying (or helping to buy) a Star Wars Lego set for my son.
